"Leave the JKUSO Constitution to the Students", JKUAT Comrades tells the Admin.

Jommo Kenyatta University Student's Organization is in the process of drafting a new constitution. But things seems not to be well with the Comrades about the Constitution, as most of the Comrades have expressed their  feelings as to why the document has not been to the Students who according to the law, 65% of the Students should agree with the draft Constitution before its implemented.

JKUAT students including some of the JKUSO members have been high  in criticizing the draft constitution which they claims that it curtains their democracy and right to leadership. The group was headed by one Abdi Siyaro, who is aspiring for the Presidential post in the forthcoming JKUSO elections.

ABDI SIYARO - JKUAT STUDENT

Abdi Siyaro criticized the current JKUSO chairmain and the Secretary general for drafting the constitution without Student's involvement. He criticized Marende (Secretary General) for drafting the constitution so as to favour his personal political interests in the forthcoming February elections.

With the support of  "Comrades" Abdi Siyaro collected 1000 signatures to file a petition that was to prevent the draft constitution from being implemented. Things seemed to have gone well with his mission as he posted on Comrade's Facebook group, JKUAT-JKUSO MOVEMENT, that he has successfully filed a petition which has brought the implementation of the constitution to a stand-still.

Most Comrades claim that the Adminstration wants to use the document to curtail the democratic rights of the Students so as to fix in there on moles and puppets to the Students' Union.
Here are some of the Comrade's angry response to the draft constitution;

University Of Nairobi (UON) students develops a networking site!!

Two UoN students; Sidney Rema, a 3rd year medical student and Phelix Juma, also a 3rd year Engineering student  have developed a new platform named VoSpine.

VoSpine founders; Sidney Rema and Phelix Juma.

According to the two, more than 1,500 users across various professional, social and educational levels have already joined the platform barely a month after it was launched.
Users join particular channels where they are able to share their knowledge and experiences with other people across the world with whom they share common interests. VoSpine already has a team of 17 made up of Developers and Channel Managers who are all students at UoN.
The students aim is to ensure that users get information that is most relevant to them as opposed to other networking sites where users sometimes are exposed to content that they consider inappropriate to them.
This highlights VoSpine’s mission to avail users a great environment to learn by engaging in productive interactions that can grow them in their various fields of experience.
“VoSpine is a networking site that is aimed at ensuring only relevant content reaches the relevant people. At times we, as users of other networking sites are irked by the posts we see from other users on social sites. For instance, a friend may post content on maybe fashion and if you have no particular interest in fashion, you’ll find this inappropriate.
“This is because it has been directed to the wrong audience. However, if we create a community where you only associate with people with whom you share a common interest, then you can be sure that your posts are targeted to the right audience,” says Rema, VoSpine’s team leader.
VoSpine seeks to make the interaction of users on networking sites more productive.
“Prominent people have already joined the platform including Equity Bank CEO Dr. James Mwangi, and Pepe Minambo, a renowned international motivational speaker. We are targeting to connect more than 50,000 likeminded people across the world by the end of this year,” says Danstan Wanyonyi, VoSpine’s Brand & Marketing Director, also 3rd Yr Engineering student at UoN.

How VoSpine works.
On signing up on VoSpine, a user is required to join channels of his/her interest to start experiencing VoSpine. Be it an interest in business, fashion, health, technology or even religions, VoSpine has a home for everyone.
There are two main categories of channels namely: General Channels and Scholar Channels. Scholar channels mainly encompass students and other scholars in particular fields. Within these channels, the scholars have a good environment where they can share their experiences with fellow scholars across the world.
According to Juma, who is also a team leader at VoSpine, scholar channels have been created to group various scholars according to the courses they pursue. An example is engineering students’ channel that brings together engineering scholars across the world into a common platform giving them a chance to learn from each other and share any other relevant information.
However, General Channels are open to everyone, irrespective of their professional or educational fields.
“It is important to note that all information sharing is done within channels and so without joining channels, there really won’t be an interaction for any user,” says Anaklet Koros, Product manager, 3rd year Actuarial student at UoN.
Information within channels is public and visible to all VoSpine users, however, non-members can only read while members can read as well as add posts and comments. It is also worth noting that since users can have many different interests, they are allowed to join as many channels as they like.
A part from just sharing information on the site, a user also has access to unlimited relevant content in form of news items, opportunities, and upcoming events i.e. summits and symposiums within the respective channels.

Association between users
VoSpine users relate as Associates if they are on same professional or education level and Mentors/Mentees if they are on different levels.
Unlike on other networking sites, where users are not grouped and can post anything anywhere, it is mandatory for VoSpine users to join channels that suite them best. This aims to ensure a user only accesses information that is relevant to them.
Besides sharing information only into the relevant channels, private information and discussions between users can be done in private chat rooms.
Accessing the platform
The VoSpine website is done and can be accessed through www.vospine.com on all browsers except opera mini which is almost done.
The team is also working on VoSpine’s mobile app set to launched in a few days.
“As at now, our priority is getting more and more users onboard. We already have a few prominent people as mentors for some of the channels like business, health and fashion. However, we are obviously experiencing a few challenges in form of funding and as VoSpine grows, we need more expertise to handle the management and development of both the site and mobile” says Rema.

HERE IS BABU OWINO'S 14.4 MILLION BIRTHDAY PARTY PROVISIONAL BUDGET!!!! (PHOTO)

Image result for babu owino

Paul Ongili alias "Babu Owino" is the common name to most of the university students and to the country citizens at large. The current SONU president is known for his fight and push for the comraades' pleas such as delays in HELB disbursment, fee increasement and other issues that affect comrades.

                                   https://www.facebook.com/THE-VIBES-622026154607544/timeline/

After making the headlines during previous' SONU election after it was revealed that his campaign budget amounted to 15 MILLION Kenya shillings; he is back again with another shocking budget.

This time is his birthday party budget which amount to upto 14 MILLION shillings. This looks weired as some of the people don't even remember the date they were born and only a small number of them do celebrate but not in this manner.

https://www.facebook.com/THE-VIBES-622026154607544/timeline/

The birthday party is scheduled to be held on 10/10/2015.

This clearly depicts the LUO lifestyle in SONU's president. Truely "PESA EN OTAS", "PESA ONGE SHIDA"......list them. Those are the only "LUO" phrases that can clearly depict Babu Owino' lifestyle.

THE VIBES HEREBY WISHES BABU OWINO A  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Two Egerton students arrested after posting alarming messages on Social

The two Egerton university students have been arrested and will be interrogated for causing panic after they sent alarming and false terror threats on a fake Facebook account. The message which was posted on ‘Egerton Campus Life page’ said, “We are not joking and if you think we are wait for us. Garissa is nothing compared to what will in Egerton University, Allah is to be worship. We have spies and maps of the whole Egerton.” Police had placed Sh2 million reward on Robert Mungai alias Robert Mohammed Blues a man alleged to be behind the social media posts soon after the messages started circulating. The arrested students were identified as Titus Ngare Nyagah an Economics/sociology student in his second year and Alex Wachira. On interrogation they told police they were doing it for fun.

Njoro sub county commissioner Mohamed Noor said the arrests were made at 1am on Saturday following a long search by police. The students had been using a fake Facebook account to claim there was a planned terror attack at the university and using the name of Robert Mungai aka Robert Mohamed Blues. Police want to understand if they have any links to terror groups. Some students are said to have escaped from the main college and other campuses fearing an attack would happen. The incident came two days after four terrorists struck Garissa University and killed 148 people before they were killed by special police in a 12 hour siege. This is President Uhuru Kenyatta's message to all Kenyans!!

The President opening the JKUAT 20th Anniversary monument
President Uhuru Kenyatta has challenged Kenyans to make use of the available technologies and human capital in order to drive the country’s development agenda.

Speaking at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Juja Main Campus during celebrations to commemorate 20 years of the University’s autonomy, the President observed: “I am convinced from what I see, we have the technological capacity to drive our own agenda.  If we are to become a middle level income economy, we should utilize our own human capital and technologies.”

In his address, President Uhuru paid glowing tribute to the founders of the present day JKUAT for playing a critical role that has translated into tangible developments at JKUAT since its inception. He singled out the Japanese Government for its thematic support to JKUAT since inception, which he termed as tangible and visible in various thematic areas of energy, citing the Sondu Miriu, Ol Karia Geothermal project and JKUAT itself.

The President further said, he was very happy that the university had made monumental developments especially in agriculture and technology, including the introduction of new academic programs such as marine engineering, mining and mineral processing, which he said, will be crucial to the country.
President Kenyatta inspects a guard of honour mounted by JKUAT marine engineering students
President Kenyatta is introduced to the Taifa Laptop assembled and branded at JKUAT when he presided over the University's 20th Anniversary celebrations

The President thus acknowledged the University for introducing marine engineering courses.  He pledged his government’s support in marine engineering especially in the acquisition of the university’s training vessel, which will be critical in exploitation of resources produced by the country.

The Chancellor Prof. Geoffrey Moriaso Ole Maloiy, paid glowing tribute to the enduring spirit of the founders of JKUAT noting, “We owe a great deal to the vision and foresight of the founding father of our great Nation, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and his family for donating the 500 acres of land where the institution is located, while the Government of Japan gave technical and infrastructural support.”

Prof Maloiy, acknowledged the presence and contribution of the Japanese academics such as Prof. Hiroji Nakagawa and Lady Aiko Nakagawa from Kyoto University; Prof. Junichi Iwasa from Okayama University, Prof. Yutaka Fukui from Tottori University, and Prof. Izumi Ushiyama, President Ashikanga Institute of Technology, for their distinguished role in the growth of JKUAT.

The Chancellor observed that since its establishment as a result of bilateral cooperation between the Governments of Kenya and Japan, JKUAT  has grown into a centre of excellence in various fields, exploring creative and innovative solutions to technological, social economic and cultural concerns.”
Noting that from 1981, the student population grew from 180 to the current figure of over 38,000 spread over four colleges and one faculty, which he further attributed to the visionary leadership of its founders and successive managers starting with the founding Principal, the late Mr. Jackson M. Githaiga to the current Vice Chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga, the Chancellor further appreciated the foresight, vision and wisdom of successive chancellors including retired President Daniel T. Arap Moi, late Prof. Ali A. Mazrui and Prof. Francis Gichaga.

While recalling the institution’s journey to autonomy, dating back to the late 1970s, when Japanese experts under Japan International Cooperation Agency undertook feasibility study on the creation of Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga informed the gathering that the institution was primed to produce requisite manpower, particularly in agriculture and engineering to drive Kenya’s growing economy.

The Vice Chancellor stated that as research oriented institution, “JKUAT set up a Research Fund which has seen the institution internally invest KShs. 246.5 Million since 2005 to support and promote applied research.”

Adding that the institution has attracted over Kshs. 2.1 Billion from various development partners in the last five years, Prof. Imbuga cited a number of seminal research activities which have had a multiplier effect in the socio-economic vibrancy of the country such as the tissue culture banana research which has evolved into a Ksh. 6 Billion industry, transforming the lives of farmers across Kenyan counties, and the recent breakthrough in sugarcane tissue culture research at JKUAT which is poised to provide new impetus to Kenya’s troubled sugar industry.

Prof. Imbuga informed the president that in Maritime training and research , JKUAT is working with International Maritime Organization, Kenya Maritime Authority, Kenya Ports Authority and the Ministry of Transport to ensure JKUAT becomes a Centre of excellence in Maritime training in the region and foster Kenya’s maritime sector growth. Five of our students pursuing Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine engineering are currently in Korea for further practical seaboard training at the Korea Maritime University.

To translate its vast experience in ICT teaching and research into commercial output, the University, with support from Kenya Commercial Bank, has embarked on a scheme to locally assemble laptops. I am happy to report that the first generation the Laptop, branded Taifa, was officially launched in December 2014. Additionally, JKUAT in close consultation with Ministry of Education and other ICT stakeholders, is working on Taifa Junior, a tailor-made version of the laptop for children.

The function was also attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Tatsushi Terada, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Principal Secretaries, Ag. Chairman of University Council, Dr. Rosa Muraguri-Mwololo, Council Members, JICA Representative to Kenya, national and county leaders, representatives of the various universities and organizations.
