Wealth Declaration: See How Much Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore Is Worth
SAFARICOM CEO - BOB COLLYMORE

Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore has fulfilled his promise to publicly declare his assets as way of instilling transparency in the fight against corruption in Kenya.
The telecommunication giant boss, on Tuesday, December 8, declared that he has net assets worth about KSh 277 million ($2,719,000 to be precise) after having worked for over 30 years.
The assets comprise of a residential house in London (KSh 54 million), cash in Kenya banks (KSh 21 million), cash in banks in the United Kingdom (KSh 95 million), Safaricom shares (KSh 18 million) and Vodafone PLC shares (KSh 89 million).
Guyana-born executive also declared that he has earned KSh 100 million ($1,068,000) from employment income as the head of Safaricom in the last 12 months. Collymore has held the position since November 2010 when he took over from Michael Joseph.

Apart from the salary, Bob Collymore said he had also earned KSh 591,249 in the last 12 months.
Bob Collymore serves on the Kenya Vision 2030 board, is a Founder Trustee in the National Road Safety Trust and also a chairman of The East African Marine System (TEAMS) Board.

Other notable personalities who promised to declare their wealth as well are Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and Kenya Commercial Bank boss Joshua Oigara in a show of support to a civil society campaign on knocking out corruption in Kenya.
The campaign, spearheaded by activist Boniface Mwangi, kicked off on December 1, with a march to State House in Nairobi.

Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore's annual $1.068 million income makes him possibly the highest paid chief of a mobile services provider in Kenya.
In an asset declaration form, Collymore stated that he earns the Sh108,924,786 a year and has no assets in Kenya, save for his $180,000 (Sh18 million) shares in Safaricom.
The chief executive also has shares worth $871,000 (Sh88.8 million) at Vodafone PLC and a residential house in the UK worth about $530,000 (Sh54 million).
He also has liquid cash amounting to more than Sh100 million at local and foreign banks.
Collymore, who declared his wealth on Tuesday ahead of World Anti-Corruption Day, is generally worth about $3.8 million (Sh387 million), including his salary for the last 12 months.
During the launch of the Anti-corruption conference on Tuesday, the CEO and board member of the United Nations Global Compact noted that corruption is a major obstacle to sustainable economic, political and social development.
He heads Safaricom which has been ranked Kenya’s largest taxpayer.
It was reported in October that Safaricom dominates the Kenyan mobile market, sweeping up more than 90 per cent of revenues in areas such as voice calls and text messaging.
Rivals like Bharti Airtel and some officials have complained that Safaricom's dominance stifles competition.
Safaricom's revenues from calls amounted to a 91.63 per cent market share in 2014, while its closest competitor, Airtel, had 8.33 per cent, according to the data obtained from the Communications Authority.
In text or short messaging services, Safaricom had more than a 90-per cent share of total market revenues from that segment, the regulator said.

University Of Nairobi (UON) students develops a networking site!!

Two UoN students; Sidney Rema, a 3rd year medical student and Phelix Juma, also a 3rd year Engineering student  have developed a new platform named VoSpine.

VoSpine founders; Sidney Rema and Phelix Juma.

According to the two, more than 1,500 users across various professional, social and educational levels have already joined the platform barely a month after it was launched.
Users join particular channels where they are able to share their knowledge and experiences with other people across the world with whom they share common interests. VoSpine already has a team of 17 made up of Developers and Channel Managers who are all students at UoN.
The students aim is to ensure that users get information that is most relevant to them as opposed to other networking sites where users sometimes are exposed to content that they consider inappropriate to them.
This highlights VoSpine’s mission to avail users a great environment to learn by engaging in productive interactions that can grow them in their various fields of experience.
“VoSpine is a networking site that is aimed at ensuring only relevant content reaches the relevant people. At times we, as users of other networking sites are irked by the posts we see from other users on social sites. For instance, a friend may post content on maybe fashion and if you have no particular interest in fashion, you’ll find this inappropriate.
“This is because it has been directed to the wrong audience. However, if we create a community where you only associate with people with whom you share a common interest, then you can be sure that your posts are targeted to the right audience,” says Rema, VoSpine’s team leader.
VoSpine seeks to make the interaction of users on networking sites more productive.
“Prominent people have already joined the platform including Equity Bank CEO Dr. James Mwangi, and Pepe Minambo, a renowned international motivational speaker. We are targeting to connect more than 50,000 likeminded people across the world by the end of this year,” says Danstan Wanyonyi, VoSpine’s Brand & Marketing Director, also 3rd Yr Engineering student at UoN.

How VoSpine works.
On signing up on VoSpine, a user is required to join channels of his/her interest to start experiencing VoSpine. Be it an interest in business, fashion, health, technology or even religions, VoSpine has a home for everyone.
There are two main categories of channels namely: General Channels and Scholar Channels. Scholar channels mainly encompass students and other scholars in particular fields. Within these channels, the scholars have a good environment where they can share their experiences with fellow scholars across the world.
According to Juma, who is also a team leader at VoSpine, scholar channels have been created to group various scholars according to the courses they pursue. An example is engineering students’ channel that brings together engineering scholars across the world into a common platform giving them a chance to learn from each other and share any other relevant information.
However, General Channels are open to everyone, irrespective of their professional or educational fields.
“It is important to note that all information sharing is done within channels and so without joining channels, there really won’t be an interaction for any user,” says Anaklet Koros, Product manager, 3rd year Actuarial student at UoN.
Information within channels is public and visible to all VoSpine users, however, non-members can only read while members can read as well as add posts and comments. It is also worth noting that since users can have many different interests, they are allowed to join as many channels as they like.
A part from just sharing information on the site, a user also has access to unlimited relevant content in form of news items, opportunities, and upcoming events i.e. summits and symposiums within the respective channels.

Association between users
VoSpine users relate as Associates if they are on same professional or education level and Mentors/Mentees if they are on different levels.
Unlike on other networking sites, where users are not grouped and can post anything anywhere, it is mandatory for VoSpine users to join channels that suite them best. This aims to ensure a user only accesses information that is relevant to them.
Besides sharing information only into the relevant channels, private information and discussions between users can be done in private chat rooms.
Accessing the platform
The VoSpine website is done and can be accessed through www.vospine.com on all browsers except opera mini which is almost done.
The team is also working on VoSpine’s mobile app set to launched in a few days.
“As at now, our priority is getting more and more users onboard. We already have a few prominent people as mentors for some of the channels like business, health and fashion. However, we are obviously experiencing a few challenges in form of funding and as VoSpine grows, we need more expertise to handle the management and development of both the site and mobile” says Rema.

VIDEO : THIS IS MORE OF SODOM AND GOMORA AS A GYNAECOLOGIST IS ALLEGED OF RAPING HIS PATIENTS!!!!!

For many women, a visit to a male gynaecologist is often an awkward but necessary moment that forces them to bear it all to a stranger.
Many hope the sessions could end the soonest possible and with minimum physical intrusion into their womanhood.
But for women visiting a private clinic in Nairobi’s Githurai and Zimmerman estates, they like any other profession, the  perverts the gynaecologist is that special doctor to whom you literally bear the most private details about your womanhood.
The choice of a gynaecologist is therefore a delicate balance between health and privacy concerns.Thursday the 4th of September, 2015 would have us frantically knocking on the doors of Dr Mugo wa Wairimu’s clinic for the better part of the day
We were seeking answers to allegations that he, in his capacity as a gynaecologist, has been sedating and raping his clients.
It follows the release of a disturbing video footage that shows Dr Mugo Wairimu during a session with one of his clients, going against all medical doctrine to take advantage of a woman who is visibly unconscious.

STUDY: An aspirin a day could reduce your risk of cervical cancer.

Taking a daily aspirin could lower the risk of cervical cancer, according to new research.
People who took an aspirin seven or more times a week had a 47 per cent lower risk of developing the disease, US researchers found.
And researchers found this was the case regardless of how many years women had been taking the drug.
In addition, those who had been taking the drug frequently for five or more years had a 41 per cent reduced risk, they discovered.

Meanwhile, paracetamol, or acetaminophen, was not linked with a reduced risk of cervical cancer.
Professor Kirsten Moysich, of Roswell Park Cancer Institute, said: 'Aspirin use remains an attractive cancer-prevention option, due to the fact that most people will be more likely to take a pill rather than make major lifestyle modifications such as quitting smoking, eating a healthy diet and engaging in physical activity.
'However, people need to talk to their doctor before starting an aspirin regimen.'
As part of the study, Professor Moysich and colleagues examined 328 patients with cervical cancer and 1,312 'control' patients who did not have the disease.

The participants were all matched by age, and were all treated at Roswell Park between 1982 and 1998.
They provided self-reported information on how often and for how many years they took both aspirin and paracetamol.
The researchers did not study why aspirin could prevent the disease developing.
In the US, 4,100 women will die of cervical cancer (pictured under the microscope) in 2015
In the US, 4,100 women will die of cervical cancer (pictured under the microscope) in 2015

Dr Moysich said more research is needed on how aspirin and paracetamol (or acetaminophen) may prevent cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is a relatively uncommon type of cancer that develops in a woman's cervix, the entrance to the womb from the vagina.
It often has no symptoms in its early stages, but the most common ones are unusual vaginal bleeding which can occur after sex, in-between periods or after the menopause.
Almost all cases of cervical cancer are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).
HPV is a very common virus that can be passed on through any type of sexual contact with a man or a woman.
There are more than 100 different types of HPV, many of which are harmless.
However, some types of HPV can disrupt the normal functioning of the cells of the cervix and can eventually trigger the onset of cancer.
In the US, 12,900 new cases of cervical cancer will be diagnosed in 2015 and 4,100 women will die from the disease, according to the American Cancer Society.
In the UK, 3,064 women were diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2011, according to Cancer Research.
Just fewer than 1,000 women die from cervical cancer every year, according to NHS Choices.
